Why East Africa Connection Club?
Pepperdine University's East Africa International Summer Program, taught students how Non Governmental Organizations operate, what they do, and why and how they impact the community. During our time in Uganda, we also saw the darker, less discussed side of NGOs. We realized that sometimes, these organizations are hurting the locals more than they are helping them.
After meeting many young westerners who came to volunteer in Uganda only to discover the NGO they signed on with was not sustainable, it was decided that there is a huge need for a reliable and knowledgeable program whose purpose is propelling those interested in dedicating their time, and hearts, to the most empowering organizations in Africa.
And so, East Africa Connection Club was born.
